Program Premise: A Project Leader is a Project Manager, but a Project Manager is not necessarily a Project Leader. A structured and coordinated transformation is required.
Program Objective: At the completion of this program you will have a deeper understanding of how to think like a Project Leader and the skills & relationships needed to excel in the role. The first four are tangible components. They are material, perceptible and substantial in the definition of an organization. The fifth component is unique in that it is at all times comprised of both tangible and intangible qualities. The first four foundational components are Purpose, People, Processes and Politics.
The fifth and arguably the most important component is much more complex in nature and utilizes both tangible and intangible qualities or talents in a strategic and complementary manner. The fifth component is, of course, YOU, the person selected or regarded as the leader of the organization and the owner of the leadership responsibilities that come with the job.
As the leader, your tangible qualities are most transparent when you perform the roles that are expected of you on a daily basis. These roles are routinely learned in the classroom, actualized through training and perfected with experience.
The tangible qualities of you the Leader and you the Manager are undistinguishable – alias, the planner, the organizer, the staffer, the director, and the controller.
However, your intangible qualities are what distinguish you the Leader from you the Manager.
We view these leadership qualities as intangible because their transformative impact can’t benefit the organization and its mission simply by a leader’s physical presence. The power of these intangible qualities can only be released through a leader’s actions, personality, personal influence and other human virtues.
Now, perfecting the art of strategically and systematically deploying these intangible leadership qualities does require numerous and diverse leadership opportunities and years of practice.
