Dawn V. Obrecht, M.D. is a graduate the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine and did an internship in general surgery and residency in emergency medicine. Dr. Obrecht was in the first group of 500 physicians in the U.S. to become certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine in 1986. Dr. Obrecht is a frequent speaker on addiction and recovery to physicians and other professionals and has published three books, one on Missionary Medicine and two on addiction and recovery. Susan J. Juergensen is an Indiana native. She now lives in Arizona. Over the past 10 years, Susan and her husband have fostered over 350 kittens, cats, puppies and dogs. They were all either recovering from injury or too young or underweight for adoption. Susan was among the Arizona Humane Society® volunteers who supported the Hurricane Katrina animal rescue and eventually adopted Boots when he was brought to Arizona and was unable to be re-connected with his owners.  Her motivation is to share with others the importance and joy of pet ownership and volunteering. According to Susan, “Providing foster care for all of the rescued pets we brought into our home was important. We were able to give each animal the love and care they needed before finding their new, ‘fur-ever’ homes.”

Dr. Susan Cushing graduated Cum Laude from Boston College and went on to earn her DMD degree from Tufts University Dental School in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Cushing published her first book, Fat No More! The Book of Hope for Losing Weight, to share her lifelong struggle with obesity and dieting, including all her trials and tribulations and eventual success of losing over 85 pounds and keeping it off for many years. It is a very honest and inspiring message for those fighting the diet/weight battle. In Have No Fear of the Dental Chair!, Dr. Cushing tells the story of her childhood fear of dentists and finding a compassionate dentist who understood her terror and helped turn it around allowing her to find her personal mission of helping patients like herself and becoming an anti-anxiety advocate. Dr. Cushing has been practicing for thirty-four years, using her training and skill helping patients be comfortable while they get their dental care needs accomplished.
